Experience
Kimberly's practice includes criminal defense, civil litigation, medicare and medicaid investigations, immigration and naturalization, and personal injury. Kimberly was a Senior Trial Counsel with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of New York, and a Trial Attorney with the United States Department of Justice's Tax Division (Honors Program) in Washington, D.C. Her experience includes numerous jury trials, appeals, and arbitrations.
Kimberly has handled a wide variety of business litigation matters including complex contract disputes involving asset purchase, change in control, lease, non-compete, partnership, and operating agreements. Kimberly has also handled employment and ERISA, insurance coverage, personal injury, real property, real property tax, securities, and uniform commercial code litigation.
Drawing on her experience as a former Assistant United States Attorney, Kimberly's criminal defense practice has included the defense of individuals and entities charged with environmental, immigration, tax, and other federal crimes. Kimberly has also represented individuals and entities investigated and/or charged with state crimes.
Affiliations
Kimberly is a member and currently the President of the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association. She is also a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel Committee for the Northern District of New York and is currently the CJA Representative for the Northern District. Additionally, Ms. Zimmer is the Second Circuit Representative to the Practitioners Advisory Group to the United States Sentencing Commission. She is also a member of the Onondaga County Bar Association and the Central New York Women’s Bar Association and previously served on each of those Boards.
